To get started with BetterGiving, you’ll need:
- A valid email address
- A mobile number
To accept donations, you must also have an active Stripe Connect account, as all payments are securely processed through Stripe.
After signing up, you’ll access your BetterGiving dashboard, where we’ll guide you step by step through connecting your Stripe account.
- If you already have a Stripe account, you can start using BetterGiving right away by connecting it from your dashboard.
- If you do not have a Stripe account, the dashboard guides you through account creation.
Don’t Have a Stripe Account?
If you or your organisation don’t yet have a Stripe account — or you’d like to create a new one specifically for BetterGiving — follow these steps:

Go to Dashboard > Profile Name > Drop Down > Account Setting > Verify Your Account.
- Review Stripe’s documentation requirements for your country.
- Your organisation must be based in a Stripe-supported country.
- Setting up a Stripe account is free.

Choose one option:
- Create New Account — to start receiving live donations.
- Login — to an existing account.

Complete verification with Stripe.
- Stripe may require ID verification before fundraising starts.
- This is required for financial compliance.
- After account setup, click Activate Stripe Account and follow Stripe’s instructions.
Already Have a Stripe Account?
If you or your organisation already has a Stripe account:
- Go to Settings > Payment Methods > Stripe in your BetterGiving dashboard.
- Select Connect Stripe Account.
- Follow the prompts to complete the connection.
Your existing Stripe account must be a Standard account type.
Stripe Connect availability depends on supported countries (including UK, US, EU countries, UAE, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and others listed by Stripe).
Stripe Non-profit Discount
Stripe offers discounted processing fees for eligible non-profit organizations.
If your organization qualifies, the discounted rate is typically applied within two weeks of submitting your request.
